Final Design B: Stranded Island
I started my journey using AI to first attempt to get ideas inspired from some hand sketched wave patterns, other band posters, as well as to generate some ideas on the 3D block platform idea.
I'll share the whole concepting phase at some point, however, I stumbled upon this one after using a King Gizzard Poster that centered around a hand drawn isometric tree. I took that idea and generated a blend of that with a more 3d clay style with platforms on the tree and musicians playing on it. An interesting idea but an other idea popped into my brain almost immediately.
I've always been inspired by isolationism with artists such as Edward Hopper being a major driver pushing me towards my artistic pursuits when I was younger and developing my style. I've also always been fascinated my film and games that take a more isolated approach and the idea of being stranded feels therapeutic to me and it just seemed fitting to work on a concept in that vain.
So I then prompted the AI wizardry with this "Image in Claymation 3d style and colors, but this time just three musicians, guitar, bass and drums, on an island surrounded by water with a single palm tree. Maybe some sea turtles on the shore, and some whales in water."
Initial results were... something. But I was eventually able to keep pushing it and expanding on the idea, as well doing some heavy lifting in photoshop to paint in elements, lighting, details, and make the overall composition feel more natural and add a handcrafted feel to it.
Ultimately ,I would like to if this concept is were pursued, I'd probably opt to remodel everything in 3d, but that would take an large time commitment. As is though, it is a perfectly usable poster concept, and can have some light animations applied if this design direction is chosen.
